My Approach & Values

Andrea is an Associate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is passionate about working with all clients towards the goals of self-empowerment and acceptance. Andrea is particularly keen on working with adolescents, young adults, and peri-natal women, as well as trauma recovery, sexual abuse, and play therapy.

Growing up in a family of twelve Andrea recognizes the vulnerability and need of families and how their dynamics play a huge role in our lives. Before she became a therapist, Andrea worked in social work helping families work through trauma through self-empowerment and building self-esteem.

Originally from Fresno, California, Andrea received her Bachelor of Arts in Child Development, (Pre-credential) from California State University Fresno. While in college and working as a social worker her passion for social justice and the care for vulnerable populations developed. She earned her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University College. It is here where she began counseling the underserved populations of the Fresno area and learned how to integrate cultural competency and trauma informed care. Andrea also became a substance abuse counselor and helped clients find the root of their addiction.

Andrea is dedicated to bringing compassionate as well as directive care to children/adolescents, adults and their families. Andrea emphasizes working from a Systemic Perspective seeking to address people not solely on an individual level, but through the analysis of the individual’s interactions with various systems, including relationships, family of origin larger society and culture. Furthermore, Andrea utilizes a multimodal perspective to treatment, integrating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy Emotionally Focused Therapy, Psychoanalysis and Internal Family Systems. Andrea feels that every client is unique, and thus requires a unique approach to treatment.
