“And Still I Rise”
― Maya Angelou
I believe therapy is a personal journey that is meant to be shared with a trusted therapist. Similar to most journeys, there can be difficulties along the way. You may become tired, frustrated, and even consider giving up. It is important to remember that therapy is not meant to be easy and will take time. My goal is to make this experience for you both empowering and healing. I believe it is crucial to create a safe and non-judgmental environment for all of my clients and would be honored to go on this journey with you.
My Approach & Values
Kristen is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who is passionate about working with clients on their journey toward self-love and empowerment. Kristen has experience in working with children, adolescents, and adult individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and domestic violence. Prior to becoming a therapist, Kristen worked with children in grades K-6. This is what sparked her passion for working with children. She went on to complete her traineeship in a school-based setting with both children and adolescents and at the Marjaree Mason Center providing services to families impacted by domestic violence.
Originally from California, Kristen received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Fresno in 2019. Kristen then went on to pursue her Master of Science Degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from California State University, Fresno in 2021 and graduated with distinction.
Kristen believes in creating a safe and supportive environment that promotes growth, healing, and self-discovery. By working from a Person-Centered approach, Kristen can connect with her clients to establish a trustworthy therapeutic relationship. Kristen believes in utilizing an integrative approach including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and a Systems perspective to analyze an individual’s relationship with family, culture, and society. She believes therapy should be a collaborative journey that allows the client to feel empowered. Every individual is different and deserves treatment that best fits their needs for healing.
