My Approach & Values
Claudia is an Associate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is passionate about collaborating with clients in working towards their goals. Claudia strives to create a safe space for clients to openly explore their past and current experiences, promoting self-empowerment, and supporting clients who are seeking a better sense of self and acceptance.
Originally from the Central Valley, Claudia received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in criminology from California State University, Fresno in 2018. During her undergraduate experience, Claudia became interested in the mental health field while volunteering during mental health screening days at the Student Health and Counseling Center at Fresno State and at Blue Sky Wellness Center in Fresno, Ca. Claudia continued her education at California State University, Fresno and completed her Master of Science degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling in 2021.
Claudia completed her internship at Fresno Family Counseling Center where she worked with a diverse population of adults, children, families, and couples to provide counseling services as well as facilitating anger management and co-parenting classes. Prior to this experience, Claudia worked for Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health in the Children’s Outpatient division providing case management services to children who were experiencing mental health issues and their families.
Claudia is devoted to bringing empathic and directive care to children/adolescents, adults, couples, and their families. Claudia uses a multicultural perspective and uses a humanistic approach to therapy and treatment as she believes in acknowledging client’s unique experiences and empowering them to create and find solutions to their problems. Claudia implements techniques and interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy. Claudia understands that everyone has their own set of values, background, and experiences and thus works in a collaborative manner with the client to tailor treatment to a client’s unique experiences.
