My Approach & Values
Monika is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor who is passionate about working with folx towards the goals of self-empowerment and acceptance. She particularly enjoys working with first generation college students, young adults, mothers, and people who desire to change generational patterns.
Originally from California, Monika received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of California, Davis. While in college, her passion for mental health and its intersectionality with social justice was ignited. Monika completed her Master of Science in Counseling at California State University, Sacramento. It is here where she began providing free counseling services to underserved communities in the greater Sacramento area, and built upon theory and experience to provide holistic care.
Monika is dedicated to bringing compassionate and empowering care to folx and their families. Monika emphasizes working from an eclectic theoretical approach in order to tailor services to each individual she meets with. Monika incorporates aspects of feminist theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and human centered approaches as a foundation to working with each patient and integrates additional modalities to fit their unique needs. Integrating a multicultural and systems level approach, she embraces the many factors that influence her client’s lives. Above all, Monika holds space for her clients to authentically explore themselves.
