I am truly honored to introduce myself as a clinical supervisor specializing in the guidance and development of associate marriage and family therapists. My name is Heather, and my journey in this field is driven by a deep commitment to fostering the growth of emerging therapists as they embark on their transformative career paths.

My Approach & Values

Heather stands out as a seasoned leader in the mental health field, with over 16 years of experience in the realm of Marriage and Family Therapy. Initially licensed in California, her managerial acumen was honed through her roles across various family service agencies, where she specialized in treating and healing family systems. Heather’s leadership style was pivotal in managing complex cases involving communication issues, conflict resolution, depression, and anxiety, among couples, families, and individuals.

The evolution of Heather’s managerial skills took a significant leap during her transition to Costa Rica. After confronting personal challenges in infertility, Heather, alongside her husband, navigated the complexities of adoption and healthcare systems in a foreign country. This period was not only transformative personally but also professionally, as it enriched her leadership qualities with resilience, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity.

In Costa Rica, Heather’s managerial prowess was further showcased as she established and ran a successful private psychology practice. Her ability to adapt to a new cultural environment, manage a diverse client base from over 13 countries, and seamlessly integrate into the local community highlights her exceptional cross-cultural management skills. Heather’s practice flourished under her leadership, becoming a beacon for individuals seeking psychological support in a multi-cultural setting.

Currently, Heather focuses her leadership on coaching and supervising associate mental health clinicians.  Heather excels in creating a trusting and supportive environment for her supervisees, balancing direct feedback and direction with empathy, understanding, and patience. She adeptly manages each clinicians unique challenges, employing a tailored approach that combines fun, honesty, and directness.

A key aspect of Heather’s management style is her emphasis on accountability and personal growth.
