"True growth occurs when we feel secure enough to take emotional risks and explore what is new." — Esther Perel

Welcome to CVFT! I’m Gianella Avila, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming space where clients feel valued and empowered. I take a collaborative approach, tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs using CBT, DBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to foster healing and self-discovery. Growing up in the Central Valley, I witnessed the need for compassionate mental health support, fueling my passion for helping others. My goal is to guide clients through life’s challenges, promote emotional well-being, and support them in building a fulfilling, authentic life.

My Approach & Values

Gia, AMFT, is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to supporting individuals on their healing journeys. With a passion for mental health and trauma recovery, she takes an integrative, trauma-informed approach, blending evidence-based practices, mindfulness, and compassion to foster growth and resilience.

She earned her Master’s in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from California State University, Fresno, where she refined her clinical skills, and holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the same institution, which sparked her deep interest in mental health and human development.

Originally from the Central Valley, Gia’s background shapes her empathetic, culturally sensitive approach, emphasizing trust, respect, and inclusivity. She works with individuals, children, adolescents, and adults facing depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and more, tailoring therapy to each client’s needs using CBT, mindfulness, and attachment-based techniques.

Gia believes in addressing **the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—**and creating a non-judgmental, supportive space where clients feel heard and empowered. Outside of therapy, she enjoys staying active, working out, and expressing creativity through arts and crafts, integrating self-care and holistic well-being into both her personal and professional life.
