“The lives of truest heroism are those in which there are no great deeds to look back upon. It is the little things well done that go to make up a truly successful and good life.” – Theodore Roosevelt

Welcome—I’m glad you’re here. I’m April, an Associate Clinical Social Worker. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore the many parts of yourself and the ways your experiences have shaped who you are. I bring a warm, grounded, and collaborative approach, meeting you where you are and making your care my priority.

I view therapy holistically, considering not only your challenges but also the many roles you hold and the strengths you bring. Whether you are a child, teen, adult, or older adult, I will walk alongside you with compassion and curiosity. I also see therapy as a mutual process—I bring professional experience, but I value and learn from the unique wisdom each client offers.

My Approach & Values

April Hawkins is a dedicated and experienced Associate Clinical Social Worker committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from California State University, Fresno, and her Master’s in Social Work from Walden University. Having lived in Oregon, Missouri, Arkansas, and California, April brings a broad, culturally attuned perspective shaped by her experiences across diverse communities and socioeconomic backgrounds. She values humility, respect, and inclusivity as cornerstones of her practice.

April has extensive experience across the continuum of care, including residential treatment for adolescents and adults, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs (IOP/PHP), psychiatric hospitals, substance use recovery, detoxification, and medication-assisted treatment settings. This comprehensive background equips her to provide care that is both clinically informed and grounded in real-world understanding. She has a particular passion for outpatient therapy, where clients often arrive motivated and open to meaningful self-exploration.

In her clinical work, April draws on evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Experiential Therapy. She has a special interest in attachment-focused therapy, recognizing the profound impact of relationships on identity, resilience, and healing. Whether working with individuals, families, or groups, April creates a collaborative space that fosters insight, skill-building, and growth.

Beyond her role as a clinician, April enjoys gardening, traveling, and exploring new experiences. She brings this same spirit of curiosity and openness into her therapeutic work, believing that true growth often emerges when we step into discomfort—what Pema Chödrön calls learning to “lean into the sharp points.”
