"Many of the most intense emotions arise during the formation, the maintenance, the disruption and the renewal of deep connections." - Dr. John Bowlby

Hello and welcome, I’m Amy! It is a privilege to accompany you on your therapeutic journey. Therapy is a deeply personal and meaningful process—one that should feel safe, supportive, and empowering. My goal is to work collaboratively with you to enhance your mental well-being, build upon your strengths, and foster a stronger sense of self-worth and confidence. I believe that healing and growth are always possible, and I am here to support and guide you every step of the way.

My Approach & Values

Amy Bettencourt is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who views therapy as a deeply personal process—one that should feel safe, supportive, and empowering. Amy works collaboratively with each client to enhance mental well-being, build on personal strengths, and foster a greater sense of self-worth and confidence. She believes that healing and growth are always possible and is committed to providing compassionate support every step of the way.

After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Fresno, Amy continued her education at Alliant International University, where she obtained a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. She now serves as an Associate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Central Valley Family Therapy.

Born and raised in the Central Valley, Amy is deeply dedicated to serving the community that shaped her. Her previous experience as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor gave her firsthand insight into the impact of untreated mental health and addiction challenges, further strengthening her commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she supports.

Amy works with a diverse range of clients, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, couples, families, children, adults, and individuals navigating substance use concerns. She utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach informed by Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. By combining these evidence-based methods, Amy tailors her work to meet each client’s unique needs and goals.

Outside of her clinical work, Amy enjoys spending time with her children, attending live concerts, and staying active through regular exercise. These personal passions help her maintain balance and remind her of the importance of joy and connection in everyday life.
