“ Resileince results form having the encounter, at a time, and in a way, that the body can cope successfully with the noxious challenge to it's system”

— Michael Rutter

A trauma is very similar to a splinter in the hand. Left alone it will continue to hurt and fester, it may even become infected. The solution is to remove the splinter and that will require digging it out. This may temporarily cause more pain than what one is feeling currently, but that pain is only temporary and after it there can be healing and peace. Such is often the case with therapy.

My Approach & Values

Ali’s journey into the world of counseling and therapy is not just a profession, but a personal calling. Growing up in the vibrant and diverse city of New York, Ali always felt drawn to understanding the complexities of human behavior. His time at City University of New York wasn’t just about acquiring a degree; it was about delving into the depths of what makes us tick as human beings.

But it was Ali’s decade of travel across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia that truly shaped his perspective. Imagine navigating through the bustling streets of Cairo, the serene landscapes of the Serengeti, and the vibrant cultures of Southeast Asia. These experiences imbued him with a deep appreciation for the diverse tapestry of human experience, an understanding that every individual’s story is unique and valuable.

Settling in the Fresno area marked a new chapter in Ali’s life. Here, he transformed his rich life experiences into a professional pathway, becoming a certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor. Over 12 years, Ali has dedicated himself to helping those struggling with addiction and substance use disorders, drawing not just from his extensive training but from a well of empathy and understanding forged through his own life’s journey.

Ali’s approach in counseling is as eclectic as his background. He skillfully integrates elements from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), family systems, and Adlerian psychology. He also incorporates techniques from the Gottman method in Couples Therapy and from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), ensuring a holistic and tailored approach to each client’s needs.

But it’s in his interactions with teens, young adults, and couples where Ali’s warmth and genuine care shine brightest. He believes in creating a space where clients feel heard, understood, and valued – a place where they can confidently embark on their journey towards healing and achieving their goals.
